Generative AI presents a significant opportunity for companies seeking to enhance their operational efficiency and drive value creation. By leveraging generative AI alongside proprietary data and integrating it into business processes, organizations can streamline operations and unlock additional value. Various applications of generative AI are emerging, ranging from optimizing financial and tax processes to enhancing risk management and automating services. By automating repetitive and time-consuming tasks, generative AI allows employees and managers to focus on strategic decision-making and value-added activities. The adoption of generative AI not only facilitates internal process improvements but also positions companies to gain a competitive edge in a dynamic market landscape. The integration of AI is reshaping job roles, with humans transitioning into the role of "reviewers" of AI functionalities. Further, humans will maintain control and accountability, as generative AI is intended to augment human potential rather than replace individuals. For both companies and the broader German economy, it is imperative to acknowledge and capitalize on the potential benefits of generative AI to ensure Germany's sustained attractiveness as a business hub.
German companies across sectors are extensively utilizing generative AI technologies. According to a survey conducted by the IT and consulting firm MSG found that one in ten respondents reported extensive use of generative AI in their company, while 71.9% either use the technology sporadically or are actively exploring its potential applications. Only a small fraction of 6.4% indicated that generative AI has no current role in their company environment. Further, the survey highlighted the efficiency benefits of generative AI across diverse areas, with 80.3% of respondents expressing plans to intensify its use in the future. Notably, the survey identified data analysis as a key focus for most companies, with nearly half already employing generative AI for this purpose or intending to do so (49.4%).
